2016 was full of momentous occasions, and It has been the best year ever. Tim proposed to me early in the year, and then we decided to get married right away, so we eloped on March 25. It was the best decision to get married and to have a small, fuss-free wedding. Naturally, we started on the baby making and are due to have a little boy in February 2017.
In May, we packed up and moved out of Seattle north to Skagit County. I started working on a new project at Anacortes High School, and Tim started worked at the CrossFit gym and is now part of the carpenter's union and working on the same AHS jobsite. We love the Anacortes community so we started looking for houses. We have a different real estate investor criteria, so we put in multiple offers before closing on the right one. Early December we closed on a fixer upper with a studio in the back. This is the perfect value add project that will make a great home for our new family and a great rental in the future.
Lots of huge events happened in 2016. Some might look at the pictures and think "wow, that's crazy." I used to be single and carefree and just post pictures of CrossFit and hiking adventures. Now I'm all married and grown up with big responsibilities - all within a short year. Yes, it is crazy. But whatever judgement people may have from the outside, I understand. Life prepared me and I was so ready for the colossal change this year, and I'm truly loving everything about it. This is me, and this is super happy me, and this is where I'm suppose to be right now. Everything just feels right. Though I will admit, I am a tad scared about the logistics and money (ya, money, you can't be surprised) of having a baby, taking maternity leave, and fixing up an old house. I've never done any of those things before, and they are all happening at the same exact time. Crazy, yes. Exciting, yes. But all I have to say is that I'm apart of Team Marquez now, so I know that everything will be okay. It is so comforting to have a supportive spouse for everything. It has allowed me to take risks and do the undiscovered. Here's to a new, surprising, and exciting 2017!
